All of our breeders are genetically tested (or "cleared by parantage by testing) through UC Davis' genetics lab (https://www.vgl.ucdavis.edu/) or Optimal Selection (https://optimal-selection.com/) and are normal/normal for both alleles at the loci for the known genes associated with the development of HCM (https://www.genomia.cz/en/test/hc-ragdoll) and PKD (https://www.genomia.cz/en/test/pkd/)... this means, that the kittens I produce are all clear by parentage for these two conditions as produced by the known genes which we are able to test for and selectively breed against. I am happy to provide the genetic results for the parents or grandparents of your cats. I spot check "sentinel" cats for FIV/FeLV and all have been negative.
Most all cats have Feline Corona Virus (FCoV) and Feline Herpes Virus (FHV) with Feline Calicivirus (FCV) becoming more prevalent as well. It is important to be aware of these viruses, and their triggers and symptoms as secondary infection can set in and require veterinary treatment, as well as the mutation of FCoV to Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). FCoV mutation to FIP occurs in a low percentage of cats with FCoV but as we know all too well from the COVID pandemic, corona viruses are highly transmissible and to date there is no vaccine for FCoV, and the risk for mutation to FIP is not something that any breeder can selectively breed to prevent, try as we might. As of June 1, 2024 there is veterinary licensed treatment for FIP in the US! The GS drug which has been saving cats from FIP for years through the FIP Warriors group is finally accessible by veterinary prescription through Scripts pharmacy. (The information provided here is not intended to provide all you need to know about these viruses, please read up on them for yourself to gain a better understanding about them. Please also understand that FIV and FIP, though similar in abbreviation, are totally unrelated viruses and while we can offer a test for your kitten, at your expense, for FIV we can not test for FIP.) There is increased incidence of Covid exposure triggering the onset of FIP, thus, we recommend and require isolation of cats from any person or animal who has Covid, has Covid symptoms, or even merely Covid exposure. Further, there is evidence that vaccination with the FeLV vaccine can trigger FIP as well as other health risks not worth putting indoor only cats through (as exposure to FeLV is ONLY via direct contact with an infected cat).
Before a kitten can be reserved with the $300 holding fee to secure him/her for yourself, you must email genotypecats@gmail.com (this will happen when you click the tab to add a kitten to your "cart" [and I apologize for that wording... still trying to figure out a way to change that in the website builder template]. I will get back to you with an application and more details! The holding fee is non-refundable so it is critical to think through all of the potential issue you may have adding the kitten to your home before you place it.
Kittens are not released to head home until they are at least 14 weeks old (as recommended by TICA) and already spayed/neutered. All kittens are current on their FVRCP vaccines when they leave (if they leave before 16 weeks they will need their final FVRCP vaccine done at 16/17 weeks). Rabies is the responsibility of the new owner so that it is submitted to the county where the kitten/cat will reside. All kittens and cats head home with an ISO microchip, current treatment of all anti-parasitics, current vet exam and fecal test, and loads of love!
Please download this, read it, and indicate that you have reviewed the terms of sale when you email back your application!
